Future alternative message and data transmission under difficult conditions – Faraday cage (ZANDER-F)

Description: This call addresses the challenge of communication, detection and imaging through solid (conductive) barriers or Faraday cages. Communication and imaging through shielding materials is divided into five main application scenarios (A-E) below. The aim of the research call is to deliver a prototype (up to TRL 4) that, in the best case, has the properties listed below for each of the deployment scenarios (deployment scenarios are to be understood as conceivable scenarios):

A. Communication through metal walls (e.g. ship hulls, containers).

B. Imaging through metal walls (e.g. ship hulls, containers).

C. Communication through sand/clay (e.g. concrete walls, underground tunnels).

D. Imaging through sand/clay (e.g. concrete walls, underground tunnels).

E. Detection of (small) drones behind buildings, in urban areas and other areas where a direct line of sight is obstructed.
