Claudia Eckert elected new President of acatech

The Agentur für Innovation in der Cybersicherheit (Cyberagentur) warmly congratulates Prof. Claudia Eckert on her election as Scientific President of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech) and acknowledges her many years of contribution to cybersecurity research – including as a member of the Cyberagentur’s Scientific Advisory Board.
With her unanimous election as Scientific President of the German Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), Prof. Claudia Eckert will assume one of the most important positions in the German innovation system as of July 1, 2025. The Cyberagentur warmly congratulates her on her new office and this well-deserved honor. As Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied and Integrated Security (AISEC) and Professor at the Technical University of Munich, Claudia Eckert is one of the leading scientists in the field of cyber security and trustworthy IT systems.
Her research approach is as profound as it is forward-looking: Whether in national advisory boards, European committees or international science networks – Claudia Eckert stands for a technology-based safety culture that sees innovation not as a risk, but as a responsibility.
She also contributes her excellent expertise on a voluntary basis to the Cyberagentur’s Scientific Advisory Board – particularly in the critical evaluation of research ideas that have the potential to shape the cyber security of the day after tomorrow. We would like to expressly thank her for this continuous and reliable support.
“We have enjoyed a trusting collaboration with Prof. Claudia Eckert at the highest scientific level for many years. She consistently thinks security through – not only technically, but also strategically. Her election as acatech President is a strong signal for the importance of cybersecurity as a driver of innovation,” says Prof. Dr. Christian Hummert, Research Director of the Agentur für Innovation in Cybersicherheit.
We are proud to have Claudia Eckert at our side. Her new role also offers the opportunity to interlink the exchange between scientific excellence and practical research even more closely – a perspective that is also of great value for the strategic development of the Cyberagentur.
