This becomes particularly important in situations where (targeted) interference in the electromagnetic spectrum, GPS outages, or dynamic environments push conventional systems to their limits. IRiS therefore addresses the question of how to develop robust, self-organizing, and adaptive swarms that remain capable of acting even under adverse conditions. The research program aims to identify and further develop approaches that enable robotic systems to interact robustly within heterogeneous swarms\u2014despite jammers, challenging environmental conditions, interrupted radio links, or impaired navigation signals.
